Anne & Jean-Paul, our world

Anne and Jean Paul, both 53 years old, like to live together like other people do. But Anne, sister of the director, has Down’s Syndrome and her “guy”, Jean-Paul, has Fragile X Syndrome. Since the time that Anne was a toddler, her mother has guided her toward a life of personal independence, while Jean-Paul grew up in a series of institutional homes. We follow the couple in their daily lives, as they take pleasure in, and struggle with, their newfound autonomy.

After her mother’s death, the care for Anne’s wellbeing has passed to her sister Meike. Striking a balance between self-sufficiency and support, she helps her to realize her dream. What does it take to ensure her happiness from now into the future?
